if you look closely, you will notice a custom fill panel for the DVD player and head unit... unfortunately, all the remote steering controls for the radio, etc, are now nonfunctional.
secondly, the head unit itself is a video monitor and underneath is a DVD player. it can accept an RF modulated signal, but cannot display high res computer signal (ie VGA) in standard SVGA or XGA modes....
it is merely a very elaborate (albeit cool looking) video system for the car..... i wonder how practical it is to have a DVD player instead of the driving computer, and radio functions.
when I contacted GNET canada the first time they spanned our board, they had no application pictures, etc., for the X5... i would get a refernce or email for the customer who had it installed, and go from there......
i saw similar pictures from a Dallas BMW site.... i wonder if these are true gnet installs or just "siphoned" off another site.....
i in the meantime have installed by sony VAIO slimline laptop into the X5 (it just so happens to be the same Grey as my interior, and my timeport), with a random-mcnally GPS device.... i found an optional second screen (full 15" across) XGA NEC monitor at circuit city today for $799 that runs on 12 volts.....
i found the supplier that GNET canada uses for its video parts......

i am currently looking for a smaller VGA screen to mount on the dash somewhere...... keeping the stock headunit system as i use the vehicle driving computer....
i will post pictures as soon as the final install is completed.....
