But with the octane mystery, no BMWNA answers, and several wierd occurrences within the past three days (engine not starting, radio not working, a punctured tire, and inability to get out of my car through either front door)... I am thinking of getting my trouble-free Jag XK8 out for winter duty. It has never let me down. The X5 is beginning to remind me of early Jags...great when they work.

Intersting. I had the same episode with the starter. I had turned the key to start, the starter kicked in, I took my hand off the key but it just kept cranking without starting. I finally turned the key to off and it stopped. I also got a flat but handled it myself. In addition, yesterday, I started the X5 and as it was cranking the Xenons came on and then off???? Also, going up one certain hill, the engine surges. It does not do this on any other hills???? I won't start on the AM radio and the GPS or the glass distortions in front and rear windows and left side view mirror. Oh well, I'm still relying on BMWNA to help.
Serge
