Re: Gebhardt in Boulder (archive)

I bought from Gebhardt in Boulder and also worked with Dion. I didn't order one as they were able to find one "in the system" which was close enough to what I wanted. I was told that it would arrive in a week, but it actually took more like 2 1/2 weeks. They claimed that one of the trucks had trouble, there was snow, blah blah blah. The weird thing is that it arrived but the manager's list still indicated that it was at the factory. Personally I'm surprised that BMW doesn't have a better system for this and can't help but wonder if they need to have some efficiency experts from Germany come over to whip things into shape.

Overall I like the folks at Gebhardt and suspect that most delays, etc. are due to BMW corporate and not the dealer. I had just moved to Boulder and was renting a car but the Gebhardt folks gave me a free loaner while I was waiting. It was a last-generation 3 series and I must say that it was nicer than any rental I was likely to get. They also let me drive the tester X5 as much as I wanted and were very patient with me as I was mulling it over. I went back and forth between the BMW, Audi (allroad quattro), and Lexus (LX 470) dealers and of the three the BMW folks used the least sleazy tactics.
