We wanted the new nav system in the X5 we ordered and our dealer said we would get it, based on our January build date. I called the dealer today to verify that it was still the case, and he said he needs to check with the plant. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the old and new system (other than size)? Does the original system have problems we need to be aware of?

In my opinion, the GPS is only worthwhile if you live in an urban area. If that is the case with you, you'll enjoy it. If you live in a rural area with only small cities nearby, don't get the GPS. You will constantly be "off the digitzed network"and see nothing but an icon and railroad tracks, if they are nearby, on your screen. When you are on the digitized network, the detail is very sparse. The GPS is also missing functions like ground speed, compass heading and altitude. They are available, but are on a hard to get to, hidden screen and in meters per second instead of mph.
