Thanks
1. Only BMW phone interfaces with BMW system
2. BMW phone inferior phone. It is not as sensitive as many of the other StarTacs
3. BMW phone has no contacts for auxiliary battery so when you have it out of the car, you are limited to the main battery. Auxiliary battery would have given you many extra hours.
4. BMW phone can only be set on Standard or Home system. No choice for Preferred SID's, Standard
AB, Standard BA, A, B, etc.
5. BMW system incomplete without a gadget they call a Compensator. The compensator is only an inline amplifier which they need because of the inferior, lossy coax (my guess) they used in the car. So, be prepared, if you want to use the phone in rural areas, to buy the Compensator for an additional $400 (I'm not sure of that price.)
6. There is no way to access a specific address in the phone book. You have to scroll through all of them to get to the one you are looking for.
7. The feature for answering the call waiting function doesn't work well, I keep losing calls.
8. The message notification does not appear on the OBC. You hear a little beep when you have a
message and you can call in for it by calling your voice mailbox. You can not use the message function as you would directly on the phone. PROBLEM is the beep keeps on going unless you take the phone out of its holder and get rid of the message envelope manually.
9. Caller ID does not appear on the OBC.
10. In rural areas, voice quality through the system is poor. Urban areas are OK!
