Installing CD Changer after delivery (archive)

We just picked up our '01 4.4 last night and want to get a CD changer in it asap. However, we dont want to pay BMW the outrageous amount for them to install the stacker. I've found several new BMW CD units for sale ($300-$350) and we're wondering if anyone has done this and can give advice. Are they as easy (plug and play) as they sound to install??
Any suggestions are appreciated!
