I'm sure the Valentine One is a great detector. However, if you do get stopped, I'd prefer that the cop does not see the radar detector, because if he does, you are most likely to get the ticket. Also, in regards to laser... I don't believe it works the way you described. It is a single laser beam of light, if it hits another car your detector will not detect that, as the beam of light must enter your detector to be set off.
