Sound Upgrades...What size??? (archive)

I have a 4.4i X5 with the Premium Sound option, but would like to upgrade my sound system. I find that when I turn the sound system up loud, the audio distorts, like a cheap rental car audio system!!!

What options do I have? I would like to keep as much cargo space as possible, as it is already very small back there. Could I fit a small 10" sub where the current premium subs are located? Where could I put the AMP? Any suggestions for sub and amp brands?

Any help would be appreciated!!!
