wait for 2002 model??? (archive)

I am looking to trade in my wifes 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 for a X5 4.4. I am been browsing this board and a few others and am now thinking I should wait for 2002 (September)to get one. Most of the problems seem to be with the 3.0 but I really hate having problems with any car and especially problems with a car costing 55K +.

Any thoughts or advice for me? My salesman says if I order the car by next Saturday the 20th I will probably get it late May.

p.s. I am dead set on the X5 for safety reasons since I have my first little one coming in June. You can probably see my urgency to get this car. Thanks ahead of time...
