I don't think anybody's suggesting the model year '02 X5 will sell for less. Typically BMW over the last few years in each model line has added what was previously options to the standard for the new model year and holding the base price the same.

For example, on a 740 you now get Xenon's and the Nav-system as part of the base car, which in '99 were options.

For the X5, I'd like to see a few items come standard, like rear-seat airbags, Xenon's and the in-dash cd player.


I am kinda doubting that. From what I heard (and we all know how reliable that is) there are going to be more standard features at a greater cost. I don't know what features just "more" is all I heard.

And who ever heard of a new model year selling for LESS than the old model year (unless they bring out a new model type [e.g., DX vs. EX in the Honda line).

Your rationale doesn't make much sense to me.
