My 2000 5 series has faster tracking than my 2001 X5. I have an Alpine PowerNav DVD based navigation system I'm considering installing to clean the slowness of the system.

Anyone else experiencing these nav problems?

1) Virtual car froze on tracking map...dealer thought it was bad sensors...turned out, after 3 visits, to be bad nav computer...dealer replaced computer and problem fixed
2) Destination arrow in top right of screen slowly, but continously, rotates (!), even while car is stopped...system gives what seems to be correct distance from destination, but no directions since it can't seem to figure out which way the car is pointing...maybe a gyro problem...this is a new, unfixed problem

I'm feeling pretty frustrated about this $2K option...Anyone else having similar probs?

2001 X5 4.4
