...I too drive in Manhattan, with a regular round trip commute from the wilds of Central NJ. Have a 99 Cherokee Sport (4.0L, 5 speed!) which just turned 50K miles. Drive it like my old '84 GTI. Rain, snow, salt, heat, cold...still on the original rotors and pads. No problems here. Like I said, it must be the driver...
