As you probably know by now, the difference between the 4.4 and the 3.0 is about $10K. That is after the 3.0 is appointed with the options that make it comparable, like premium package, sport package, activity package...

Anyway, I would argue that the primary difference is in torque and towing ability. There's no question that the 4.4 has more get-up-and-go but the 3.0 is no slouch. I have driven 4 different 3.0s and I am always amazed by it's peppiness and handling. In fact, the only difference in the handling of the 4.4 and 3.0 is wheel/tire related. Otherwise they are similar in handling and appointment.
