I have them on my 4.4. They are indeed low-powered high beams (the inner pair of headlights, I believe). I also have the xenons and they are not involved in the DRL.

BTW, nice that the nav system, etc. have their own ambient-light sensors. They know better than to dim when you're using your lights during the day (for example during rainstorms). My Mercedes 430 would always dim its gauges and nav system below usefulness when I turned my headlights on. Not a problem with the X5.

Hope this helps.

Hey everyone...

I've been a "fan" of this forum for quite some time. It's been very informative. Thanks. This, however, is my first post.

I just recently (this past saturday) ordered my X5 4.4 silver w/ black interior, w/ sport, activity, moonroof, xenon, nav, prem sound, dimming mirrors, privacy glass.

Now...I have a question about the day time running lights. Is it truly a daytime runing light or will the lights just be on. The salesman wasn't sure and I wasn't sure how I should have the keys programmed. Any info???
