This may be right for germany and some other countries where diesel is less expensive than gas and where you pay less tax for a diesel engine. Not so for example in Switzerland. Diesel is more expensive than gas and you do not save on tax. Thats why diesel are not very popular here. Diesel sales increase every year. But the largest percentage are still using gas. And i like my 3.0i non-diesel! BTW, waiting time for an X5 is 1 year also in Switzerland, not only for diesel!Marc
To end this discussion: In Europe 9 of 10 ordered 3.0 X5 run with a diesel motor. This results in a waiting list of 1 year and up. I kn w diesel is not that popular in the US, but if I see the energy crises in CA and compare both engines 1*1, I have to say the X5 3.0 diesel is the better choice.
