I have been struggling with this issue--rattles front and rear, all over the vehicle! I was all set to lease a new X5. However, after I test drove five 3.0's and four of the five rattled excessively I had to give up. When the sales manager heard about why we could not close a deal, he approached me and told me that the only difference between the four that rattled and the one that didn't was that the fifth would in the near future. He told me that the rattles are an inherent characteristic of the truck. I know that many of you insist that your vehicles work fine with no rattles. I just cannot purchase a vehicle that costs over 40k and rattles when it is still on the dealer's lot! Oh well....

yes, i know this was posted before, but I had trouble finding an adequate solution in the archives. What's the cause of the rattles in the back if it isn't the trunk lid?
