BMW measures volume with second seat upright and only space below top of seat. Others measure entire volume to roof. So while space is less in X5 it is not as drastic as some of the numbers imply.

The worst offender of volume munipulation is Toyota/Lexus the measure total volume with the seats unbolted (not a good idea) and removed.
Just saw a comparison of the x5 with the ml430, says that the x5 has only abt 17cu. ft. of luggage space. Any info on whether this is true and if it will be corrected on the 02 model. I have 2 kids and was wondering abt the space constraints etc.
