Okay, so I know that the X5 handles well, but today it really proved itself to me. I was driving in what can only be called a rain/sleet/snow storm with limited visibility on a road I've never been on. There was no traffic in site and I was accelerating up a hill, hitting 80 as I neared the top. It was only when I got to the top that I realized there was a curve, and I was going way too fast. I tapped the brakes and turned into the curve, wondering if this was going to end up badly. As the X5 smoothly took the curve at double the posted speed and triple the "sane" speed given the weather conditions, I couldn't help but let out a "woohoooooo!" :-)

Anyway, I'm not advocating irresponsible driving, but any other SUV and many cars would have ended up off the road given the same conditions. If all cars were engineered like BMWs I'd bet that accidents and casualties would be reduced.

I took some pictures that I'll post soon, including one that was just a few seconds before I came upon the curve.

Cheers,

Skip

Fun aint it! I have taken some on/exit ramps at damn near 80 and have let out the same thing. One of my required exits on the way to work has 2 lanes on the exit and most people take the outside lane because it then mergers with traffic from the left. I can not tell you how many times I have passed like 10 cars from the inside AND then scooted into the outside lane and then into traffic with X moving like a champ!

Buddy of mine was in the passenger seat during one of these manuevers and said, "THIS IS A TRUCK???" :-)
