We've had the same problem and have had every part for the upper and lower trunk latches replaced twice now. It happens after getting a bath, especially when it freezes. We looked at things with our dealer and the last complete wiring harness that was 2 weeks old already showed signs of oxidization. The next set of parts they will silicone to death and try to make sure no water is even getting to it through the trunk lid seals. We've also had 2 door locks needing to be replaced, yes it is a pain but I still can't think which vehicle we would purchase if we wouldn't have an X.
