I personally hate the feeling (or should I say lack of it) that most US cars have when steering. In most of these cars you can move the wheel with one finger, even at rest! It's hard to believe that anyone would prefer this, but lots of cars over the last 20-30 years have suffered, so someone likes it.

If you're just letting friends putter around at low speeds, encourage them to do some real driving and then tell you how they feel. A Tahoe/Expedition/etc. feels quite heavy when slinging their huge asses around on off ramps, around corners, etc. And you'll know why light steering sucks when you try to compensate and realize that you can't tell what the front wheels are doing in relation to the back. The X5 tracks exceedingly well in the same conditions, and can be pushed much harder.

Cheers,
