It does look black in certain lighting conditions, but you should be able to make out that it's dark green unless your monitor is dark.

I think that the X5 looks best in dark colors, with the green, mahogany, and black being my favorites, in that order. Of the lighter colors only blue and white really appeal to me. I'd like to see BMW offer more colors, but it may be that they're playing the game of adding a new one or two each year.

Check out the various "car color and your personality" sites if you want a laugh. You'll probably find some that flatter you and others that insult you, even though you choose the same color(s) each time.
