Why is it that BMW is having so many reports of dead batteries? The Z8 board also has many saying they left their new cars for one week without driving, and the battery died. Same story that some dealers say it is normal, but BMWNA says that "adjustments" need to be made to reduce battery drain, and this is not normal. This scares me that the electronics are so sensitive and may need any "adjustments" not to run the battery down.

The complexity of the electronics on the X5 continues to scare me. I also have grave doubts on their ability to age gracefully. OK, I'm just having a paranoid moment! Sure is fun to drive!

If you leave the key in the ignition while being parked in the garage, the electrical system is in operation. Even if the key is not turned, it will drain your battery.
