the 7 series has very low resale values and you can buy a used 7 series for much less than you can imagine.

I've had my X5 for six weeks and thought it would be time to post my observations. First of all i have had no problems. No rattles, no squeaks, no repairs, nothing. I look foward to the times a get to drive and find myself making excuses to go somewhere just to drive. When I'm out of town in a rental I feel out of control and unsafe.

Second I will comment on the options that I have since this seems to be a source constant questions on the board. Its my first black interior and it is easy to keep clean. My old vehicle was black/Tan and this is simple to keep clean compared to it. I find the sport to be stiffer than the non-sport,but when you experience a bump it is over with no rebound. The vehicle drives more like a BMW with the suspension. The styling and handling inprovements in the sport make it an option worth having. The only option I got that I was unsure of was PDC. Now that I have had it for awhile, its an option I would recommend to everyone. Since this is my first SAV/SUV the PDC helps with the confindence to park it. Activity, Climate, and PP are nice feature improvements that make the car lean more toward luxury than they provide improved driving. I wanted both a luxury vehicle and one that drove well. Thats why I got a BMW and why I added those options on.

My dealer experience has been great. We miscommunicated and they failed to order it with the cd player. It took a couple of weeks to find one to swap the head unit with, but they did so and didn't even charge me the $200 the CD would cost if ordered.

The final question, would I buy one again. I would love a 740il, but it costs signiifcantly more and lacks some of the utility (sorry BMW marketing) that the X5 has. I would definately purchase another X5 and the only change I would make would be to add self dimming mirrors.
