This is NOT a problem, NOR is it due to the fully-electronic throttle control. Mercedes and Audi just like BMW have had this "feature" across their models for many years now. It's not just offered with Steptronic-type transmissions, as I drove an S-class Benz with regular auto.

I love it personally. Gives me more control and actually, a "connection" with the machine. Only when I snap it at the very end does she understand that I want a downshift right now, and definitely. If I don't use it, just remain in my current gear!!!



There is probably a limit switch when you floor it that tells the computer "GO" without determining the relative position of the pedal or the rate of change in its position. Maybe that is the click you hear. It is probably not a problem. I get a click when I apply the brakes, but assumed it was the brake light switch.
