That's what we are doing. We have an X5 3.0, but sometimes need more space; so we're adding an MDX to our arsenal in the Fall. Clearly the X5 is more fun to drive, but there are practical advantages to the MDX (more space, better nav system, lower price). You'd probably be happy with either car.
