Read some of this or talk to some of us. I'm sure YOU already know how good the X is, and I'm not trying to sell it, but you did ask for help. It's not like the MDX is a Chevy Blazer, but if the X5 is an option, make sure your Dad gets a good look. Like I said before, I don't exactly know what you are going to do, but if you are planning on just going out and buying either an X5 or MDX, good luck hunting. If you haven't already planned ahead, you could have a lot of time to convince your Dad.
