I need to convince my dad that the X5 4.4 is a smart buy rather than the MDX.

For one, that's a weird short list. You're going to have to tell us what your family's selection criteria are and how they prioritized each one.

What are you going to do if we say "hey, *I* like the X5 because it fits *me* better"? Go back to your dad and say "hey, ken on the bimmer board said the X5 rulez and the MDX sucks". That's pretty useless. Tell us WHY your family came down w/ that list of choices...
