I know exactly what you are referring to. I've got 700 miles on my 3.0 Sport, Ti Silver/Black. With the Premium Package, all of the leather selections have the two-tone thing going on the seats and door inserts. I happen to think that the black is the most pronounced after having looked at the sand and gray interiors. I preferred the solid black interior of my '98 528i and am still not too keen on the two-tone though I notice it less now. I know it's a matter of taste, but in my opinion those who want the simplicity of a black interior don't want it mixed with gray. I am surprised BMW has done this quite frankly.I believe that the headliner is black only with the Sport Package, and I happen to like the look (in addition to the stiffer suspension!) of the black interior with the black headliner.
Enjoy your new X5 adam!
Just picked up X5/4.4. Black on Black. Drives great but noticed interior is black leather with grey accents and ceiling is grey, not black. Is this standard? Is all black (i.e. no grey accents and/or ceiling) only with Sport Package?
