First impressions (archive)

I picked up my X5 4.4 last night. It is a blast to drive. I got silver with the gray interior. I went back and forth whether to get black or gray interior, and really like the gray.

A couple of quick annoyances:

- Trunklid open on the computer. Twice, when I've open the trunklid, closed it securely (I thought) and then went to drive it, as I began to drive away, the computer said, "Trunklid open." Both times, I stopped, got out, opened and shut it again (it seemed secure), and it went away. I have seen on this forum others had a similar issue. I'll pay close attention to see if I had been properly closing the lid or not, and if I have, talk to the dealer about a fix (service bulletin?).

- PDC. Yuck. It is truly annoying. I should have test driven a vehicle with one before ordering. The dealer had none in stock at the time is my lame excuse. It goes on automatically when you put in reverse. I want to find a way to shut it off permanently. If anyone here knows a way to turn it off, please let me know. If you are thinking of ordering PDC, I strongly suggest you test drive an X5 with it first.

- Premium stereo. I see a lot of people asking whether it's worth it. Immediate impression is No. I wouldn't order it again.

I'll give it a few more days to see if anything else comes up and then go to the dealer. I have to go back anyways to have the CD changer installed.
