I was my dealers first retrofit from a CPT7000 to the CPT8000. When I first got the new phone, I had the exact same problem as you described. Turned out that I had a bad timeport. Once the phone was replaced, the problem went away. The only thing that is not functioning properly now is the BMW Assist Emergency feature. When I tested it about 1 week ago, the only thing it did was do a voice connect to BMW Assist, although on my end, it appeared to be transmitting the vehicle data and lat. and long., that information was not received by BMW Assist. The person I spoke to at BMW Assist said that the dealer would have to activate that feature for me. When I asked the dealer about it, he had no clue how to activate it. I've called about 10 other BMW dealers and nobody seems to know what I'm talking about. Even BMWNA has no clue, I'm starting to get a bit frustrated at this point. Everything else about the phone and the car interface works very well, caller ID, etc., however, I'd really like to get this emergency feature fixed. Does anyone who has the phone and the Nav know how to have the phone programmed to transmitt the information to BMW Assist? The emergency function worked very well on the CPT7000.
