Regarding the BMW Assist "setup" ... You got me curious so I decided to test it in my driveway. My display said it was transmitting data, and it showed me my lat/lon. But the BMW person said she didn't get any data. She said she would do a "re-transmit". She did that, but then we got disconnected. I called again, and got a much more "experienced" person. She explained that they can't see the data unless I "set up a profile" first. I asked her how to do that, and she said she just had to ask me a few questions. She asked my for my name, address, model, VIN, color (of vehicle :), phone numbers, and emergency contact names. Then she put it in her computer, and then she told me my location (correctly). I suggest you do the BMW assist, and ask the rep to set up your profile. Then see if they get your location data.Thanks so much for the info on your experience in replacing the phone. I'll get my dealer to replace mine. Then, hopefully, I'll be able to receive calls!
