I want to use my existing 2inch trailer hitch bike rack on my 3.0X5 but don't want to purchase the BMW $495 towing package plus $300 installation.
Considering removing the rear bumper and have a welding shop weld a 2inch receiver to rear frame next to threaded towing hook and then replace bumper as is.
Has anyone done this and would it be adverse to a lease?
