I have used the Griot's clay for the last few years and I like it a lot and I find it is easy to use. I spray the Griot's Speed Shine on a surface to be clayed. For the hood, maybe a third of the hood area were it is divided by the crease. Then I pull a hunk of clay off the globby wad. I work the clay in my hand, first, but that is not really necessary since it will loosen up once you start to use it. I don't use a lot of clay, just enough to hold in place with my fingers. Then, over the liquid, I rub the surface. If the clay is picking dirt up - you'll see it and then you can flip the clay around and re-mold it to get a new clean clay area to go back to the surface. But, the clay cannot be used on just a dry surface - it has to be wet with the Speed Shine. I follow up with a cotton cloth (from Griot's) to wipe up the slop and then buff with another cotton cloth. When it is done right, the painted surface with be absolutely smooooooth.
