Electric Brake Controller for X5 (archive)

Does anyone have any experience with installing an electric brake controller on their X5? The dealership tells me that the only approved controller is the Draw-tite Activator II --which is no problem. However, they seem extremely hesitant to want to install it, and the RV dealer didn't want to tackle it either.

Has anyone installed one themselves? If so, any help would be greatly appreciated.
