The delaer rep Dennis was very helpful and I would recommend him highly to anyone buying BMW in Kansas City. The way they treated a wannabe like me was very commendable - they unedrstood my excitement / ignorance and taught me everything... (maybe this treatment is common at such high end dealers .... but i never got such value at my ford delaer...)
I wnet 1.5 hrs b4 the scheduled apointment ... due to the memorial day weekend the showroom was relatively empty.... so they started right on the paperwork....
we (me and my wife) were directed towards the waiting salon and we waiting for 15 minutes before i caught the first glimpse of my X5. the silver gleamed in the sunlight ... as it drove majestically onto the marble floor of the delivery salon.... we were still behind the glass doors. I just wanted to break the doors and touch the X5 .... calling my car: X5 is too cold... i will call it "pooka" from here onwards.... so Pooka stood there and we waited another 15 minutes b4 our rep came and rolled the shutters......
as soon as he opened the door for my wife... my heart sank ... it was light wood trim instead of the dark ... i was visibly upset (but not my wife) .... dennis noticed this and apologised profusely....he said he will let me know on tuesday what can be done.......
well with lotsa patience he went over everything..... seat memory...GPS.....etc.....i had read the manual so many times that i was just nodding my head .....Dennis did remind us to shut the rear hatch with some force....and he did tell us about stalling..... and the airconditioning... the squeaking ... and how the cargo cover is to be taken off...it seems he was following this board........
The GPS wont work inside the delivery salon so we went out in the lot...(out of the shadow cast by the showroom bldg.)... the GPS is an excellent tool and an even excellent toy....
We entered our address and it took us right there....I am simply awed by the GPS technology..... the GPS did slow down but that was like 1 out of every 20 screen redraws....
we picked Pooka reading 8 miles .... this morining it is 97 miles and i am going for a short trip today... another 300 miles so 400 miles in first 3 days.....
The driving is exceptionally zippy and good.... i did not hear any squeaks or rattles .... the radio scan procedure is cumbersome.... the moonroof makes grinding noises sometimes...
i am really pleased with the vehicle....there are very few X5s in Kansas City... where the ML320 is crawling everywhere... it is a nice feeling to be acknowledged by others on the road....this is a headturner..... i could see people following the x5 - talking about it ... or maybe its my own imagination.... but i did see people gazing at it for a long time while we had our lunch....
the drive has been exceptionally smooth.....i will take some pictures when we take the trip today ...and will post them asap......
It might be my imagination, but I ahve seen a non-desired effect of my x5 on my co-workers and friends....but on the other hand...encouraging acknowledgement by strangers on the road is very welcoming.... i would appreciate insights if you people have any on this occurence....
....hey thank all of you guys for your inputs....... i hope my comments have not been boring.....wait for my pics.......
