I considered that too, however, in my driveway (where I do most of the testing on the phone) I do have a relatively strong signal. Ironically, in a previous life I was Director of Engineering for Cellular One, and I made sure to choose a good location for a cell site a few miles from my home, with line of sight to my house. I did think about your "poor coverage" scenario, though, but it gets blown away when I note that in my case the land line caller continues to hear ring-back, and the portable handset continues
to show a ringing indication (alternating red-green on the status light), but the NAV display drops back to radio, and the ringing never comes through the speakers. If, after 20 seconds in this "silent" mode, I flip open the handset, then the call gets answered, and the signal is fine. So, the call never drops, it just gets ignored by the vehicle logic. The problem also occurred at the dealer's location in downtown Rochester, NY (a two-hour drive from my house).

And, I still have the consistent symptom of not being able to control the volume if I flip open the handset to continue the call in privacy.

I appreciate knowing that your phone is also TDMA, but you don't have any problems. That tells me that it's either something wrong with one (or more) of my modules, or something wrong with my version of software.

When the holiday is over, and the dealer is back to work, I'll start pushing hard to get to the bottom of this. I may end up calling the dealers you recommended in case they've seen it before. Thanks!
