When I received my 2001 BMW 530 the light seemed to be aimed low, so when I went to the BMW dealer to get an inspection and I requested that they lift the xenons slightly... Well, they did as I asked, however, the lights were pointed into the trees. I went back the following day and told the service rep. that the xenons were all screwed up, so he had someone adjust the lights again. When the service kid pulled my car in front I went outside and asked him how to adjust the xenons, just in case. He told me to point the lights at a wall and turn the little bolts on top of the lights with allen key. Obviously, the dealers method of adjusting the lights suck and any moron can do the same thing. When I drove my car that evening I noticed that the lights were still extremely high and the drivers light was much brighter than the passengers light. Well I was extremely pissed, so I decided to make the adjustment myself. I just pointed the lights at my garage door and lowered the lights and made sure both lights looked level. I must say, my xenons are awesome now and light up the road superbly. Although they are bright it is very rare that someone flashes me! I came to the conclusion that the dealership has a bunch of morons working there, so do it yourself if you can. Good Luck!
George,
Thanks much. I hope that the adjustments on the X5 are the same as on your 530. My intent is to raise them a little at a time, till it's acceptable. Right now, even at around 70 mph on a darkened road, it seems like I'm overdriving the lights. Anyway, even my wife's Lexus is aimed a lot higher.
Thanks again!
Jeff
