it seems my X5 reacts differently to fuels and oils. i always use premium gas but my X5 seems to be sluggish on nj gas than NY gas. also i just add some engine oil(bmw hi-perf oil) and it feels noticeably more sluggish and louder since then.
i hope this is just my wrong impression.
