Definitelly, this is a software option.


It is probably some legal thing where they are afraid of a US lawsuit from an unintentional closing (say with a child in the car). Since the remote has a range so that it can be used out of line-of-sight, BMW requires you to put the key in the door and turn it to close all windows, sunroof, lock all doors, and arm the alarm. I would like this feature too. If you find out any information on enabling it, please post.
