The dash is plastic. About the only time you'll find a leather dashboard in a BMW is if it's a 750il and some M-Cars. I've found that you can keep it clean simply by wiping it down after every wash with a synthetic chamois. The same method should also be used on the door panels but if you really want to use a vinyl protectant, visit Car Care Specialties and read through this very informative site.
