If build, quality and reliability are important to you, do not buy the X5 If you are a discerning and experienced automobile owner, do not buy an X5. My 4.4 is ten months old and has 23,000 miles. It has spent about 20 days in the shop and some problems, about which I've been complaining for ten months, are not fixed yet. I have not had any engine, transmission or brake problems. All my problems have had to do with GPS, AM radio, cell phone, side view mirrors, speedo errors, all sorts of things which should have been perfect on a $61,000 car.
