Nothing compares to the SAV/SUV ride of the X5, haven test drove them all before buying an X5.

Regarding the X5 problems, my 2000 has had it share of minor problems and understand your concern over the X5 fires, which you would expect is resolved in recent productions. I previously had a 99' 740iL that had more problems than my 00' X5. The 7-series ranked high (#8) on the recent 2001 JD Power Initial Quality and I am of the opinion that the 740 is worse than the X5. Goes to show you that every car may have it distinct set of issues.

You may want to give a call to your dealer and ask him to confirm that your new X5 has had the X5 Aux Fan Issue addressed. Heck, compile a complete list of the issues have seen on this board and ask your salesman to demostrate they are all taken care before you take delivery.

Tough decision, good luck!
