According to the news reports and the government information concerning the recall, there have only been that 3 or 4, I can't remember. Neverless, there have been over 40,000 X5's built over the past two years and 4 divided by 40,000 equals 0.0001 which equates to 0.01%. It would take 400 fires just to equal 1% so statistcally speaking this is nothing to write home about. BMW is replacing the faulty parts and if you have it on your vehicle you will get a letter for the recall. Just look at all the problems MB has had with their ML. They amount to much more than any of the X5 problems and it has been in production for several more years.
