X5 quality is a crap shoot, at best. Is it worth the gamble? It depends. It is a very comfortable, remarkably safe, and superb handling automobile, if everything is working properly. On the other hand, it can be most uncomfortable if it has the low-speed roar (BMW has not publicized this problem ... not yet), and can be somewhat dangerous when it is burning (recent recall). Lots of little things (and a few big things) have also failed on one vehicle or another. But if you can afford it, it is probably worth the gamble. If you are on a tight budget, time-wise or money-wise, probably not.
