Happened to me before. Got it towed to dealership. When I got their it started. Drove it home, assuming it was an aberration.

Couple days later X5 stalls on the freeway on a Saturday. Pull over and have it towed to dealer. On Monday, service department starts it up just fine.

After a couple days of investigating and on the phone with BMW Techs they determined it was something to due with a loose connection with the Fuel Pump Relay. Fixed the next day. Haven't had a problem since. Although now when it doesn't turn over the first time my heart stops and I think "Oh %*!&^$". But it always starts on the second try =)

Have it looked into ASAP.
