The rears don't need cutting, but are not custom fit. I have the BMW rear cargo mat (because the dealer threw it in -- black is the only color with my sand interior), and all of my other mats are weathertech tan. I believe the weathertechs are much thicker, hold more water, and are more durable, plus they come in colors besides black!
