When I receive a voicemail message, a small envelope appears on the lower border of my NAV screen. The envelope does not disappear until I listen to the message. I am not certain where this notification will show up if you do not have NAV, but I suspect a similar notification symbol will display on the OBC or dash (although I am not certain).

With respect to listening to voicemail messages while driving, I programmed the phone itself with the sequence needed to listen to a voicemail message. Usually, I am diligent with voicemail, so I only have one or two messages at a time. Therefore, I programmed my phone with the assumption that I would have one message that I want to save (using pauses, codes, etc. . . ). That way, I can (1) hit the r/t button on the steering wheel ("SW"), (2) scroll down to my "voicemail" entry in my phone using the up and down buttons on the SW, (3) dial the number by pressing the "face" button on the SW, and (4) take action after each programmed pause by pressing the "face" button on the SW. If I have more than one message, the call will automatically hang up after I have saved the first message, and then I simply have to call back and repeat the same procedure. Once you have programmed your phone correctly, it is VERY easy to use. (I have never used the buttons on the screen).

Let me know if you have more questions.
