placed in all X5s produced after 9/1/00. Mine was produced 8/31/00, but has the connectors. X5s weren;t produced until 11/99 or 12/99, so why would they produce a connector for one month's production? BTW, the voice works with the CPT7000 for cars that have the connector.

Roundel, the BMW car club magazine says that BMW ditched any plans for a retrofit cable/connector for the pre 9/00 cars.
