Sorry but I need to vent, I've had the car 8 months, have only put 5400 miles on it and have parked at the far end of parking lots religiously... I never thought my first door ding would be at the hands of the BMW dealer ! To give credit where it's due it was Allison BMW in MountainView who managed to put a dent the size of a quarter in the door during a service appointment. They also scratched the NAV system trim and originally delivered the car to me with rips on the underneath body protection that looked like a sardine can that had been opened with a pocket knife !

Just to add some insult to injury when I came to pick up the car the ding was obvious from 40 feet away and they wouldn't even consider taking responsibility for it until after they checked their 'Car Condition' sheet which they use on all vehicles to record any dents they see on cars when the car is delivered for service and *before* the owner tries to accuse them of the damage. My sheet showed ZERO dings, dents or scratches to the car when it was delivered to them.

... Very frustrating ... how coincidential was it then that when I got home I found in the my mail a letter from BMW NA asking me to comment on my service experiences at Allison BMW ... I really can't recommend these guys for service. The car has never been ready the same day, often they have had it for three days and have only commenced work the second or third day, they have problems diagnosing anything that isn't very obvious and to cap it all they have now gone and committed the cardinal sin of door dinging it! Nice people but they have turned the service section into the dealership equivalent of a fast food restaraunt and the quality has gone out the window.

Sorry for the long post, I needed to breath in again...
