I inspected the fan and noticed that it was not running at all.
The dealer replaced the fan with another fan...supposedly, this is the "good" fan since I was told that BMW was replacing the "bad" fans with a new "bad" fan, with the logic that this is a low incidence failure and that a new "bad" fan may do the trick...apparently they are doing this because of the shortage of the new good fans.
You may want to make sure that you get a good new fan when you have yours replaced....
I have a question for anyone who has an X5 that has experienced a fire with the aux cooling fan.
How has BMWNA been to deal with about this?
Do they offer to repair the vehicle and provide a loaner if necessary?
What if the fire was so bad the vehicle is totaled? Do they offer to replace it with an identical vehicle? Do they issue you a production number and then you wait for it to come up or can they slot you in early?
What about your insurance company? Do you have to file a claim through them and have them work with BMWNA, or does BMWNA work with you directly?
Has the fire had any impact on your indurance rates?
I am not trying to offend anyone or pick a fight, I am just curious as to how this situation is being handled by BMWNA.
